The Royal Marine has recently undergone extensive refurbishment in 2008 and is a real Highland gem. The town of Brora sits at the mouth of the River Brora in the Highland of Scotland. The surrounding unspoilt countryside - dramatic hills, peaceful lochs and sandy beaches, bursting with history and mystical Highland tales. The Royal Marine is an elegant Edwardian style hotel renowned for its fine food and unlimited golf. It is just a 2 minute walk from miles of unspoiled sandy beach and is just an hour's drive north of Inverness, the captital of The Highlands.
Renowned Scottish architect, Sir Robert Lorimer, originally designed the Royal Marine as a private residence. The building dates back to 1913 and its impressive architectural features - a grand staircase, a wooden arched entrance hall, a snooker room and the formal Sir Robert Lorimer Dining Room - give the hotel a real depth of character and period charm.
A well-equipped leisure club provides guests with the welcome opportunity to wind down in whichever way they prefer, whether it's a dip in the pool, a relaxing spa bath or a short spell in the sauna or steamroom. Beauty treatments are also available.
Brora has its own traditional Scottish Highland links golf course, designed by James Braid, with panoramic views of the surrounding landscape and seascape. A short drive away golfers can also pay a visit to the challenging and World Famous Championship Course at the Royal Dornoch Golf Club.
Vistors to the area will discover a wealth of things to see and do. The spectacular Dunrobin Castle, restored by Sir Robert Lorimer, is just six miles from the hotel, and Brora itself is home to the Clynelish whisky distillery. Anglers can enjoy salmon fishing on either the River Brora or Loch Brora. The hotel has boats to hire for loch fishing and bikes to hire.
The hotel can cater for up to 70 delegates in the largest of its three meeting rooms and is an hour or so distant from Inverness Airport.
