Think of Hampshire and you probably imagine a green, tranquil landscape of gently rolling hills. This is certainly true, but Hampshire also has lots more, making it a unique place to visit. It is famous for its wonderful coastline, and the New Forest with its wild ponies, picture-book villages and vibrant towns. London is only an hour away. Hampshire was also home to Jane Austen, one of the world's most famous authors. She spent most of her life in Hampshire and it was here that she found the inspiration to write
classics such as Pride & Prejudice, Emma, Mansfield Park and Sense & Sensibility. The houses where she lived and died are now visitor attractions offering a fascinating insight into her life.
Basingstoke is situated to the north of Hampshire, making it very handy for trips to London. It was an important mill town in the 1800s and has now been entirely updated with a new contemporary shopping centre.

- Upton Grey Manor House Garden - one of Gertrude Jekyll's finest creations.

- Follow the Basingstoke Canal Towpath Trail, declared by many to be Britian's most beautiful waterway.
- Trace the history of the AA with some wonderful memorabilia at Milestones Museum.
- Get an insight into the life of the Great Duke of Wellington at Stratfield Saye House.
- Commune with nature at Yateley Common Country Park - designated as a Site of Scientific Interest.
